Meeting with Zwembadbranche
Olaf Boxman spoke with Susan Post of ZwembadBranche about the safety of water slides in the Netherlands. In the past 10 years, it has only happened three times that a slide was closed due to unsafety: “The slides in the Netherlands are inspected to a high standard. An approved slide is fundamentally just very good.”

Olaf Boxman answered some questions from RTL EditieNL about water slide safety. The segment was prompted by the closure of the Challenger slide in Zoetermeer.
Bottom line: No water slide is 100% safe, but if you use it as intended, the chance of accidents is very small.

New Project
This week we started another fantastic new project: a design study for a large indoor water park in Europe!
We’ll share more as soon as we can, but for now, the location and clients will remain a secret!

New Project starting in 2026
B&Eau has been commissioned by an international design firm to collaborate on a major project in the Middle East. The project involves a mixed-leisure design that will combine residential and retail spaces with a theme park and obviously a water park.
The details are still being kept secret: perhaps more later!

New projects
B&Eau has launched two exciting new projects. We can’t reveal too much about them yet, but they involve developing a vision for a hybrid indoor pool (combined utility and recreational) and developing a large water park abroad.
2025 is shaping up to be a great year for B&Eau, with us serving all market segments. In addition to the new projects mentioned above, we’ve completed a project to expand a campsite swimming pool and are working on a new swimming pool for a large holiday park!

Cyan Park nominated for Best Water Park Award
Cyan Water Park—designed entirely by Olaf Boxman of B&Eau—has been nominated by MENALAC (Middle East and North Africa Council for Leisure Facilities and Tourist Attractions) for the Best Water Park Award in the category with over 400,000 visitors per year. It is the first water park in Saudi Arabia to be nominated for this award.

Tornado King: open for business!
To celebrate its 40th anniversary, Water World is opening a unique waterslide in Lloret de Mar, Spain: a ProSlide Double TornadoWAVE. Olaf Boxman of B&Eau created the initial concept sketches for this fantastic ride.

Pairi Daiza Indoor waterpark news!
While there’s no official news yet, it has already been noted that slide components are arriving at the construction site of Pairi Daiza zoo resort. It looks like construction is about to begin on their announced “Sanctuary Waterpark”!

Construction update Water World Spain
Vanuit mijn verleden bij ProSlide Technology ben ik als conceptontwerper betrokken geweest bij de uitbreiding van dit fraaie park aan de Costa Brava. In honor of the park’s 40th (!) anniversary, it will open a Double TornadoWAVE slide – the first in Europe – later this year.
As can be seen in the photo, construction is progressing well.

This includes a benchmark study for a large indoor water park (the intended location is still secret) and a concept design for a hybrid pool, which will include both an extensive recreational area and a target group area.
In addition, we want to do more research and publish more in 2025!

Saudi Arabia’s first ‘gender-inclusive’ wave pool
The Olaf Boxman-designed wave pool at Cyan Waterpark in Jeddah is the first gender-inclusive pool in Saudi Arabia. “Men, women, and children are welcomed together in this wave pool,” said a park spokesperson. “Supported by both the government and the local community, this change has helped boost tourism.”

New Kids Zone Waterworld Lloret de Mar
Water World Lloret de Mar will soon open its brand-new (ProSlide) Kids Zone. Olaf Boxman of B&Eau was previously involved in this design. The special feature of this project is the world’s first Kidz Double TornadoWAVE tire slide!

Mega Mayhem water coaster opened
Rapids Waterpark in Florida recently turned on the water to supply their new dueling water coaster, Mega Mayhem. Mega Mayhem will be the longest coaster of its kind, with a length of 250 meters per track. I have conducted various integration studies in the past to arrive at an optimal design and location for this coaster. Great to see the final result!
