The 10 best water slides just across the border in Belgium and Germany!
20 November, 2025
Suppose you are bored of Dutch water slides and you have already tried all the slides from my top-10 list . Then it is good to know that there are still a few spectacular slides to be found within about 50 kilometers of the Dutch border in Belgium and Germany.
Again as a note in advance: I have spread out on several different types of slides, looking purely at the sliding experience and not so much at fancy lights or colors, which have little to do with the quality of the design. I assume that all 10 slides are still in use. I have not taken so-called ‘wild water courses’ into account because technically these are not slides.
My personal top 10:
10. Gelbe Turborutsche – OLantis Huntebad Oldenburg (Germany)
Just a nice fast speed slide!

9. Flugrutsche (drop slide) – Aquapark Oberhausen (Germany)
Something different: a stainless steel drop slide. The tower is nicely themed as an old mining tower. Aquapark Oberhausen is worth a visit anyway because of the range of slides and – especially in summer – the sliding roof.

8. Knappenrutsche (3 lane body racer) – Aquapark Oberhausen (Germany)
Not because this slide is so good (because it is absolutely not because of the low partitions, especially in the corners), but the idea is nice, you don’t see three lanes next to each other and the track looks spectacular (from the outside).

7. Space Taifun (bodybowl) – Aqualand Köln (Germany)
Aqualand Koln is definitely worth a visit. This is a true water park with a fantastic lineup of slides. For me, the body bowl with its slide exit (no drop into a deep pool here) is the most appealing.

6. Magic Jump – Lago Brugge Olympia (Belgium)
The magic jump is a slide with an optical illusion: you think you’re sliding straight into the mouth of a shark, but just before you think you’re going to bump into it, you suddenly dive down.

5. Aquacanyon (hybrid river-slide) – Aqualand Köln (Germany)
Beautifully themed cross between a slide and a wild water course. Guarantees a wild ride through a narrow rocky canyon.

4. Stand Line – Nettebad Osnabrück (Germany)
Here we find a special one. A stand-up slide from manufacturer Klarer.
The Nettebad is one of the most visited water park complexes in Europe (more than 700,000 visitors annually), thanks in part to a whole series of slides. And yes, the Nettebad is indeed not within the 50 kilometer zone from the border but about 90 km (but we couldn’t ignore this special slide)

3. Monkey Splash (body bowl) – Center Parcs Vossemeren (Belgium)
By Center Parcs standards, this is a special slide. This is the only bowl slide that can be found in a Center Parcs Aquamundo! And in addition, this slide also has a transparent tube section at the beginning when you are high above the pool. Exciting for gliders, fun for spectators.

2. The Sliding Tire Conveyor – Plopsaqua Hannut Countries (Belgium)
In any case, this park has a very nice slide tower (with a disco slide and a trapdoor slide in addition to the tire track) and therefore a second place in this list.
In addition, the water park is also beautifully themed. The tire track is just a good long and wide slide: nothing more and nothing less!

1. Aquachoice (switchpoint slide) – Wasserwelten Bahia Bocholtz (Germany)
This is a very special slide, but again not so cleverly designed. Halfway down this tire slide, you end up in an intermediate pool where you can choose which slide you take further down. Killing for a high capacity for safety reasons and in addition, this also detracts from your sliding experience because you have to get out of your tire. As far as I know, this is the only one of this type of slide in the world!
