Skiing and swimming may seem like two very different activities, but a number of ski resorts around the world combine them perfectly by offering indoor water parks alongside the slopes. Here is an overview of 10 snow- and water-rich destinations where you can combine winter sports with water fun:
1. Jay Peak, Vermont (USA)
The Pump House is the only indoor water park in my favorite American state Vermont (nickname: The Green Mountain State). This 50,000 square meter water park opened in 2011 and attracts thousands of visitors annually. It features slides, a surf simulator, a lazy river, and an indoor-to-outdoor heated pool.
Why visit? Ideal for families who want to combine the cold outdoors with tropical fun. A wide range of water attractions.


2. Aquariaz in Avoriaz (Frankrijk)
This unique water park, opened in 2012, is designed as a tropical paradise at an altitude of 1,800 meters. It offers slides, a “wild river,” and a climbing wall above water.
Why visit? Beautiful panoramic views of the Alps from a tropical setting. Experience is top: the theming and planting are of a high level.


3. Aquadome, Tirol (Oostenrijk)
This luxury thermal complex combines wellness and fun. It has futuristic outdoor pools, a large slide, and relaxation areas.
Why visit? A perfect mix of skiing and ultimate relaxation in the Austrian Alps in a futuristic setting.


4. Camelback Resort, Pennsylvania (USA)
This 125,000 square meter park opened in 2015 and offers attractions such as the Venus SlydeTrap (a funnel slide) and Storm Chaser water coaster. In addition, this park has a large outdoor water park, making it also worth visiting in the summer.
Why visit? Previously awarded as one of the best indoor water parks in the USA. Large park with many attractions.


5. Bora Parc in Quebec (Canada)
Located in Valcartier, this 102,000 square meter park offers a wave pool, slides, and an exotic atmosphere year-round.
Why visit? Combine skiing in the Canadian snow with tropical swimming fun.


6. Le Lagon, Tignes (Frankrijk)
This pool complex offers a 25-meter pool, slides, and a wellness area. It opened in 2006 and is free for ski pass holders.
Why visit? Perfect for relaxing in the hot tub after a day on the French slopes.


7. Silver Mountain Resort, Idaho (USA)
This 10,000 square meter water park offers a surf simulator, a lazy river, and multiple slides.
Why visit? A family-friendly destination with plenty of winter and water fun.


8. Tatralandia (Slowakije)
This largest water park in Slovakia has thermal baths, wave pools, and dozens of slides. It is open year-round.
Why visit? A unique combination of skiing in the Low Tatras, relaxing in thermal baths, and sliding.


9. Aquamotion in Courchevel (Frankrijk)
Opened in 2015, this state-of-the-art complex features indoor and outdoor pools, a wave pool, and a wellness center.
Why visit? Combine the luxury of skiing in Courchevel with modern relaxation facilities.


10. Masanutten Resort, Virginia (USA)
This 42,000 square meter water park offers attractions such as the FlowRider, various indoor and outdoor slides, and a huge children’s swimming paradise.
Why visit? A great winter and summer destination for families with young children.
