‘Over a length of approximately 50 kilometers, 11 water parks or larger swimming pools are located within a short distance of this highway!’<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

In some places in the world, you find a high concentration of (special) water parks. Think, for example, of Wisconsin Dells and Orlando in the USA, in the United Arab Emirates, the Australian Gold Coast, and a bit closer to home, the Algarve in Portugal.I wondered if we also have such an area in the Netherlands, and with some imagination, I come up with the ‘Waterpark Way – A67’.Over a length of approximately 50 kilometers, 11 water parks or larger swimming pools are located within a short distance of this highway.<\/p>\n\n

Two parks are located just across the border in Belgium. Four parks are Aquamundo’s from Center Parcs and two parks are from Landal – with park de Schatberg working on plans to completely renovate the swimming pool.<\/p>\n\n

A famous (or infamous) location is currently closed: Prinsenmeer in Ommel, known from Peter ‘Massa is Kassa’ Gilles.At a slightly greater distance are also the IJzeren man in Weert and the resorts of Beekse Bergen in Hilvarenbeek.A famous historical water park is the old Tongelreep in Eindhoven, a park that in its heyday attracted more than 1 million(!) visitors per year. The new – recently opened – Tongelreep is a very weak version of this. A huge missed opportunity for a strongly growing region known for its innovations.<\/p>\n\n

EDIT: a bit further just across the border with Belgium, you will also find Sportoase Groot Schijn in Antwerp with Belgium’s first looping slide and the very first bowl slide with a hanging start (thanks Julian van Tuberides for the addition ;-). <\/p>\n\n

Edit 2: Holiday park de Leistert in Roggel (known for the only outdoor wave pool in the Netherlands) is also not far from the A67!<\/p>\n\n
