Top most anticipated new indoor waterparks for 2025 and beyond!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Last year I posted a well read article about the 10 most anticipated new indoor waterparks coming in 2024. Due to multiple reasons not all parks opened as scheduled in 2024.<\/p>\n\n

Now it’s 2025 and there are so much more new indoor waterparks on the horizon, so it is time for another look into the future of 2025…..and beyond!The list turned out to be twice as long as last year and features projects with opening dates ranging from 2025 till 2030.<\/p>\n\n

Some notable things: North America is on fire:<\/strong> 9 completely new indoor waterparks are in the works, although not everything is official yet. It will be interesting to see if and how the trade tariffs imposed by President Trump will affect those projects.<\/p>\n\n

Therme Group is expanding<\/strong> it’s horizon big time. The German Therme Group, owner\/operator of hybrid wellness-waterparks like Therme Bucharest and Therme Erding, has announced over 6 new parks globally. Their mission is to make wellness accessible to a broader audience.<\/p>\n\n

Looking at water ride suppliers<\/strong>, as far as we know now: WhiteWater West is the preferred supplier for 6 parks, followed by ProSlide (2x). For 12 parks the supplier is unknown to date.<\/p>\n\n

Many parks (6) are part of a hotel or resort development. Three parks are a so called \u2018second gate\u2019 and part of a larger development including a theme park or mall. Five parks are municipal projects and these often have sports, training and learning facilities attached to it.<\/p>\n\n

North America<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

Mystery Cove Water Park (Bloomington, Minnesota – USA)<\/strong>As of March 2025, plans for the Mystery Cove Waterpark at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota, are progressing. The project, which had been delayed due to the global pandemic and rising construction costs, has been re-imagined with a smaller footprint and enhanced features.\u200b<\/p>\n\n

The updated design envisions a 13.000 m2<\/sup> facility featuring a wave pool, lazy river, splash pad, approximately 30 slides and rides, and a fully retractable roof to provide an outdoor feel during warmer months and reduce energy costs<\/p>\n\n

Kalahari Wisconsin Dells (Wisconsin<\/strong>, USA)<\/strong>Kalahari Resorts & Conventions is enhancing its Wisconsin Dells location with a significant expansion of its indoor waterpark. This 85 million dollar project involves adding a 7.000-square-foot area featuring a retractable glass roof.<\/p>\n\n

The addition will include three new slides from Whitewater West:\u200b Wild Wildebeest: A six-person raft slide, Green Python: another six-person raft slide. and the Cheetah Mat Racers: A four-lane racing slide.<\/p>\n\n

Kalahari Spotsylvania (Virginia, USA)<\/strong>This brand resort will feature an indoor waterpark spanning over 16.000 m2<\/sup>, the indoor waterpark will be Virginia’s largest, featuring a variety of water slides, wave pools, and play areas suitable for all ages. \u200bThe resort will also include an expansive outdoor waterpark, providing additional aquatic attractions and relaxation spaces. \u200bThe resort will feature approximately 900 guest rooms and suites, each decorated with African-inspired themes, aiming to provide a luxurious and immersive lodging experience. \u200b<\/p>\n\n

The new indoor waterpark is one of a kind, with slides and thrills for all ages. Enclosed by glass walls and a glass ceiling it will feel like summer no matter when you choose to visit! The facility will span 100,000 square feet (9.200 m2<\/sup>) and feature a retractable roof (by Open Aire), allowing for an open-air experience during favorable weather. \u200bThe design is by the Holland-Basham Architecture firm.<\/p>\n\n

Therme Washington DC (USA)<\/strong>Therme Group has selected a site in Washington, DC for its first wellness and water park. It has released plans for a 15-acre wellness resort at Poplar Point along the Anacostia River. The facility will offer thermal baths, numerous saunas, pools, waterslides, and a variety of dining options. This development aims to integrate urban wellbeing into the city’s landscape.<\/p>\n\n

Therme Dallas (Texas, USA)<\/strong>Therme will spend an estimated $500 million in construction costs and an estimated $300 million in other soft costs like design fees, interest and other related purchases. Therme Dallas would offer visitors thermal baths, 20 different kinds of saunas, wet rooms, mineral pools, water slides, and immersive work from local and international artists, as well as multiple restaurants. The development includes a 450,000-square-foot (42.000 m2<\/sup>), indoor climate-controlled facility and roughly 5 acres (20.000 m2<\/sup>) of outdoor pools and other attractions.<\/p>\n\n

M\u014drea Water Park (Quebec, Canada)<\/strong>A lot is going to happen in North America and Canada cannot stay behind. The M\u014drea Water Park (formerly know as Moana Water Park) is scheduled to break ground in 2026. It will be located at Cit\u00e9 Mirabel and will be 37.000 m\u00b2 (400,000-sqft) in total. Its construction cost is estimated between 175 and 200 million dollars. Rumour has it, that ProSlide will be the slide supplier and that the ride line up will include a RocketBLAST water coaster, a TornadoWAVE raft slide, a bowl slide, a lazy river and several kids attractions.<\/p>\n\n

The funding applications for both the Indoor Aquatic Facility and the geothermal heating facility were approved and announced on March 7, 2024. The next step is to continue working with the design team on design activities. The facility will be heated by geothermal energy.<\/p>\n\n

The total area of \u200b\u200bthe Aquapark is 36.000 m2<\/sup> (9.000 m2<\/sup> is a closed and heated part that works all year round) plus the associated parking lots for over 3.000 cars. The total capacity of the Aquapark is 4.000 guests per day.<\/p>\n\n

Therme Frankfurt (Germany)<\/strong>A lot is still unclear about this mega project. Delivered in partnership with Thermen Gruppe Josef Wund, the project in Bad Vilbel near Frankfurt will be Germany’s largest wellbeing resort. Located by the Nidda river, the wellbeing resort will be home to water-based activities and wellbeing treatments, as well as art, nature and technology.<\/p>\n\n

The experience includes activities for children, adults and seniors. The resort\u2019s family area will boast more than 30 waterslides, while relaxation areas will include thermal and mineral pools.<\/p>\n\n

The starting point is that Oceana will be built in much the same way as originally intended including the first six-person raft rides in Europe, and the highest mega-drop Master Blaster in the World. Both will be supplied by Whitewater West from Canada.<\/p>\n\n

Pairi Daiza (City of Brugelette, Belgium)<\/strong>No updates on this waterpark have been officially announced, however slide parts from renowned Canadian manufacturer ProSlide have started to arrive on site.<\/p>\n\n

The Tropical Greenhouse named ‘Sanctuary’ is scheduled to open in 2025, It features a vast tropical greenhouse spanning approximately 40.000 square meters. This space will recreate the Amazonian climate, housing diverse flora and fauna native to that region. Visitors will have the unique opportunity to stay overnight in accommodations offering views of the animals and underwater scenes. \u200bComplementing the tropical greenhouse, a water park is planned to open in 2026. The complex will include various pools, including a recreational wave pool with the characteristic ‘bear pools’, a target group pool, an instruction pool, a wellness area and a competition pool. \u200bThe atmosphere and design will appeal to both athletes and recreational users and families with young children, with themes such as ‘The Pacific Dream’ and a bear themed kids area.<\/p>\n\n

Hoornse Vaart Aquatic Complex (City of Alkmaar, Netherlands)<\/strong>The Alkmaar city council has given its final approval to the plan for the realization of the new Hoornse Vaart Aquatic Complex. According to the wishes of the city council, the swimming pool will not have 8 but 10 lanes on the 50-meter track. The plan for the new swimming complex also consists of a 50-meter pool with 10 lanes, a 25-meter pool with 6 lanes, a wave pool, a target group pool and a water playground. The plan also includes a jacuzzi, a tube slide and a diving board.<\/p>\n\n
